Brought to you by the organisers of the world renowned Gastech event (www.gastech.co.uk). Gas Asia Summit (GAS) (www.gasasiasummit.com) will deliver a regionally-focused conference agenda, addressing the unique needs of the Asian commercial gas community for both international and regional gas players – from buyer, originator, trader, seller, project manager to contractual & legal executives. Delegates, exhibitors/sponsors and visitors will therefore be the key NOCs, producers, utilities, LNG shipbuilders and yards, shipping operators, terminal operators and banks.

The conference will run as a single stream, with break-out sessions, over two days, and below are some key components that the content will be developed around in due course:

Key gas/LNG producers in the region:

  • Australia (set to become one of the world's largest LNG producers), Brunei, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand
  • Critical to also examine potential growth & development of shale & coal bed methane production to LNG and GTL from Chinese plays

Key gas consumers in the region:

  • Japan (especially post-Fukushima as LNG imports increase to fill energy gap left by nuclear closures)
  • China (set to become a top ten global consumer of LNG with a rapid growth in new import terminals and gas-to-power generation capacity
  • Korea (KOGAS already world's single largest purchaser of LNG)
  • Plus other key consumers such as Taiwan, Indonesia (now consuming more gas than produced), Malaysia (also now a major domestic consumer, previously leading global exporter of LNG)

Expansion of LNG consumption:

  • Growing supply/demand & the dynamics of supply-demand
  • New local trading markets, hubs
  • Expansion of regional storage & regasfication facilities
  • New import & export terminal projects in the region

Singapore as comprehensive LNG hub for the region

  • Commissioning of Jurong Island (Singapore LNG) import terminal pending
  • Currently global leader as oil trading hub – ambitions for similar LNG role
  • 80 percent of Singapore electricity generated by gas – key fuel for state's growth
  • World leader in LNG shipyards, shipbuilding & repairs
